Valentines Day boxes
Updated: Mar 9, 2020
No one ever prepared me for all the "Mom Duties" in pre-school...
Henry attends a wonderful Pre-School, Red Shed-it's done wonders for him. He is right where he needs to be academically, if not ahead, and I couldn't be happier with his school. However I cannot keep up with the badass mom's of Roscoe lol. House-Mom's of Roscoe really needs to be filmed, because it's full force - already starting - in Pr-School. (side bar-I am in no way bashing these Mom's, because being a stay at home mom is HARD WORK...and I really wish I could be a stay at home Mom. #goals.)
Anyway, every year around Valentines Day, the kids have to create Valentine boxes for all of the fun, sugar-filled, Valentines greetings from their peers. For a single mom-every room party and every holiday stresses me out. I love doing stuff for my son, but the expectations felt to uphold are intense. IT'S STRESSFUL. I had no idea how serious Valentine box making was.
So here I am the night before making Henry's valentine box, because obviously Henry isn't going to do this himself; however, I have him help me glue construction paper onto my old Amazon box. Of course, Henry wants a transformer Valentines box. Being a mom who aims to please, I grab black and yellow construction paper, and go to town on a Bumblebee Transformer Valentines Day box.
I really thought it looked awesome. I mean it wasn't anything special, but it took over an hour to create! Let me tell you that I was horribly mistaken on my crafting approach...
Looking at pictures of Henry's classmate's Valentines boxes, they were like pieces of Picasso artwork compared to Henry's Amazon wrapped Bumblebee box. There were boxes almost two feet long...a giant submarine, an ice cream cone, a video game set, a crocodile. The boxes were magnificent! Henry's Valentine's box was old school, because that's what I thought people did! I had NO IDEA that making Valentines Day boxes was so serious and WHO HAS TIME FOR THAT?
When I was a kid, you wrapped a shoe box with shiny red paper and put some heart stickers on the top. It was a top notch box if there was glitter involved...and I don't even think everyone had a box. Don't get me wrong-the mothers who put together these grandiose Valentines Day boxes deserve 50 gold stars, but us single Mom's who work full time jobs simply do not have the time...and personally I don't even have the desire to create such a masterpiece. I guess what I'm saying is that V-day boxes really have been taken to the next level and basically I already need to start creating Henry's Valentines for next year.
