Megan Austin

Hello there, my name is Megan Austin. I am a mom- a teacher- and a heart warrior. Currently, I teach at Flinn Middle School, in Rockford Illinois. I teach 8th grade English, and actually really love teaching writing to the young minds of tomorrow. I enjoy teaching the middle school because they are such a funny and awkward group of adolescents. Reminding myself that they are the “young minds of tomorrow” helps keep me grounded on the challenging days. Prior to teaching at Flinn Middle School, I worked at Harlem Middle School for a year-long position, also as an 8th grade English teacher…I guess you can say that teaching English is my jam. In addition to teaching, I coached Cheerleading for 7 years, until I went back to school to earn my first master’s degree as a reading specialist, at Rockford University.

While teaching is my passion, my one love is being a mother. I am a relatively new momma, to a five year old boy, named Henry. Henry is wild, likes transformers, being outside, and truly has a heart of gold. He attends pre-school at a cute school called The Red Shed…which is enjoys very much. Being a mother is what I was meant to be...and every day I pray that I’m doing an okay job.
